Canva’s June 2025 Update: What Digital Sellers & Template Creators Need to Know

Get ahead of the curve: Canva’s top Design Trends for 2025

The big Canva update drops June 2, 2025 — and the internet got it wrong. Learn what’s really changing, what free users can still do, and how to keep selling digital products with ease.

🚨 Canva’s June 2025 Update:

What It Really Means for Digital Sellers

If you sell templates, design assets, or client content using Canva, this blog is a must-read. There's a lot of misinformation floating around, so let’s clear it up.

🗓️ What’s Changing on June 2, 2025?

Canva announced that starting June 2, only Pro, Teams, or Enterprise users will be able to:

  • Create new template share links (the “Use Template” links)
  • Share editable templates with clients, customers, or students

If you're using Canva Free, you won’t be able to create new template links after this date — but your existing ones will still work.

✅ What Free Users Can Still Do:

Don’t let social media scare you. Free users will still be able to:

  • Use existing template links
  • Edit templates shared with them
  • View-only share Canva designs with instructions to duplicate
  • Sell final digital products (like PDFs, PNGs, JPGs)

💡 For Template Sellers & Digital Product Creators

Here’s how to stay profitable even after the update:

✔️ 1. Batch Create Template Links Now

Get your Canva Pro trial or subscription and crank out all the template links you need before June 2. Store them in a document or product listings.

✔️ 2. Upgrade to Canva Pro

Think of this as a design license for your business. If templates are your bread and butter, Pro is the move.

✔️ 3. Sell Finished Files

No Pro? No problem. Create beautiful PDF planners, printables, and designs to sell on Shopify without sharing template links.

✔️ 4. Add Clear Usage Instructions

Help your customers succeed. Add simple video demos or instructions for using your Canva-based products, whether they’re Pro or Free users.

🔁 Recap: Don't Panic. Just Pivot.
